The mobile app at the centre of CareerLabs' learner experience. I rebuilt core pieces of it, owned its analytics and release pipeline, and later led the team building it.
The problem
A fast-moving product team needed weekly improvements in learners' hands — but a heavy app, a slow video player and manual builds slowed every release.
What I built
- Redesigned the video player from the ground up and added in-player interactivity.
- Implemented deep linking and cut the app size by roughly two-thirds.
- Integrated in-app Zoom webinar sessions — and contributed back to the open-source react-native-zoom-us package.
- Wired up Firebase Crashlytics, push notifications, analytics and Remote Config, plus an in-app tour and Zoho in-app chat support.
- Instrumented the funnel across Mixpanel, CleverTap, Facebook and Branch.io.
- Introduced CodePush and cloud build tooling to ship JS updates without full store releases.
- Built an admin UI in React and Redux for the operations team.
Outcome
- ~80% faster video load times after the player rebuild.
- ~66% smaller app download.
- Excellence Award in Engineering — twice, as SDE II and SDE III.
