Two production apps for a network of veterinary hospitals. OneUnit+ Hospital Teams tracks every blood unit from donation to transfusion; OneUnit+ Pets keeps pet parents connected to their donor pet's journey. A Spring Boot notification service keeps both sides in sync.

The problem

Pet blood donation depends on volunteer donors and their owners. Tracking screening, consent and every unit — from donation through transfusion, across a network of hospitals — doesn't work on paper and spreadsheets, and pet parents rarely see the impact their donor makes.

What I built

  • OneUnit+ Pets: auth, hospital enrolment, eligibility checks, consent flows, appointment scheduling, pet profiles, donation history and document access (health certificates, lab reports).
  • OneUnit+ Hospital Teams: barcode "Scan to Dispense", a filterable inventory of canine and feline blood units, expiring-soon counts and critical low-stock alerts.
  • An in-app notification system in Spring Boot that models 20+ event types — donor lifecycle, consent, blood-unit status, low stock — delivered through Expo push notifications.
  • One event vocabulary shared by both apps, so a status change at the hospital reaches the pet parent instantly.

Outcome

  • Both apps live on the App Store and Google Play, published by National Veterinary Associates.
  • Low-stock and unit-status alerts replace manual follow-ups for hospital teams.
